The city says they won’t remove my tree; do I have options to have it removed?
Residents are allowed under the tree ordinance to petition the city council to have a city tree removed. Should the council approve the action, the homeowner is required (at their expense) to:
  • Hire a licensed and insured tree removal company to remove the tree and grind the stump. The street department must be notified of when the tree will be removed.
  • Replace the tree removed with two 2 ½” diameter trees or the cash equivalent of the trees. The city must approve the species of trees purchased.
