LAWN MAINTENANCE
Owners are required to maintain the lawn and landscaped areas on their properties. Grass and weeds can not exceed 12 inches in height on all properties, including vacant lots. Yards must be maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition.

Do not allow landscaping to grow so that it encroaches over the sidewalk.

Tree branches and bushes should be neatly trimmed so as not to be a public nuisance. Grass clippings may be placed in bags, with orange stickers that are obtained at City Hall for $1.00 per sticker.

RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE
Residential garbage, waste and recycling shall be placed near the street in approved containers no earlier than 4:00 pm on the day prior to scheduled pickup and the containers and any garbage, waste or recycling not picked up shall be removed from the pickup area no later than 7:00 pm on the day of pickup.

All waste material must be containers or bagged/boxed neatly not to exceed 32 gallon size or 50 pounds weight. Up to one cubic yard of "Do-It-Yourself" building debris will be picked up but must be in containers. Items are not to be loosely scattered across lawn or berm. Special arrangements must be made for pickup of white goods (appliances), heavy furniture, carpeting or any other large items.

ADDRESS NUMBERS
Numbers that are easily legible are essential for rapid response of emergency personnel. Pontiac Municipal Code requires that all building lots must display address numbers. The Building and Zoning Office is responsible for assigning addresses based on guidelines in the City Code. All house numbers should be plainly legible and visible from the street. House numbers shall be Arabic numerals and at least 4 inches in height, with a line width of 1/2 inch.
